Maharajganj ( Hindi : महाराजगंज Maharajganj , [ mʌhɑːrɑːdʒɡʌndʒ ]; also Maharajganj district ) is a town in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
It is located in northeast Uttar Pradesh near the Nepalese border around 50 kilometers north of Gorakhpur . At the time of the 2011 census, Maharajganj had 33,930 residents. The city is the administrative seat of the Maharajganj district .
