The memorial for the victims of fascism is in the Lutherring in the Rhineland-Palatinate city of Worms .

description

Bronze bowl on base with inscription

The listed rotunda standing on pillars was built in the 1950s by the municipal building department. It is intended to signal that the population of Worms has finally overcome the influence of the Nazi regime and to keep the memory of the victims of National Socialism alive.

Every year, the incumbent Mayor of Worms lays a wreath in memory of the victims as part of public events at which contemporary witnesses have had their say in the past. At times, representatives from Amnesty International were guests to provide information. The wreaths are laid on the day of commemoration of the victims of National Socialism (January 27) and on the anniversary of the Stauffenberg assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler (July 20) .

today

The square on which the memorial stands was named in Otto-Wels-Platz on March 24, 2013 after the social democratic German politician Otto Wels , who gave the last free speech in the German Reichstag after the NSDAP came to power .
