May Fatty

Mai Ahmad NK Fatty (* 20th century in Nyakoi Taibatu ) is a lawyer and politician in the West African state of Gambia . From February to November 2017 he was Minister of the Interior in the Adama Barrow cabinet .

Life

Fatty worked as a lawyer in Amie Bensouda's law firm , and later he went into business for himself as a lawyer. He was the defender of Baba Jobe in 2001 and a successful defender of Ebrima Barrow from 2003 to 2004 , who was accused of treason. Seriously injured, he survived a car accident, an alleged assassination attempt on him. Because of this, he left The Gambia in 2007 and returned in 2011. In 2008 he founded the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC), which was registered by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in January 2009 . Fatty became its chairman. He left the country in 2011 after being threatened after the 2011 presidential election; he returned in November 2016.

On February 1, 2017, the newly elected President Adama Barrow appointed Fatty as Secretary of the Interior to his cabinet. He held this position until November 10, 2017.

On January 1, 2019, he was appointed Special Advisor to the President, replacing Yusupha Cham in this position . He resigned from this position on October 11, 2019, believing that his role as special advisor to the President was no longer useful.
