Maik Meuser
Maik Meuser (* 1976 in Cologne ) is a German journalist and television presenter .
Life
After graduating from high school in Idstein im Taunus, Maik Meuser studied in Mainz and Strasbourg . In Costa Rica, the television journalist helped - together with his current wife - to set up a sustainable ecotourism project. Today, the TV presenter at DW-TV also works as a trainer for the Deutsche Welle Academy in South America and Africa. In 2012 he produced his first one-hour documentary lagos_live - total art in Nigeria . Maik Meuser is married and lives with his wife and three children in the Rhineland.
Career
At the age of 15, Meuser founded his school's first school newspaper. A year later a school-wide edition for the Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis followed. Before graduating from high school, he began working as a freelancer for the Idsteiner Zeitung . During his political science and German studies at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, other newspapers were added, including the Berlin taz , for which he reported during his studies in Strasbourg. Internships at SWR , ZDF , Arte and Hessischer Rundfunk followed . A few days after completing his studies in Mainz, the political scientist began working as a freelancer for the news program of the Franco-German cultural broadcaster Arte in Strasbourg. In January 2005 he was hired as an editor and author for the Arte cultural news program - but at the same time took on brief engagements for the European news channel Euronews in Lyon. In September 2005 Maik Meuser started training as a tri-media editor at the German international broadcaster Deutsche Welle , reported u. a. from Singapore and Brussels . The freelance television journalist currently moderates the main news program Journal of Deutsche Welle in Berlin . From January 5, 2015 to December 19, 2019, he also presented the RTL night journal of the Cologne private broadcaster for two weeks a month . On July 23, 2015, he presented for the first time on behalf of RTL aktuell . Since November 2, 2016, he has also been presenting RTL Aktuell regularly. Since the end of July 2015, he has also presented the investigative report format RTL Nachtjournal Spezial. Maik Meuser is fluent in English and French and can also converse in Spanish. In March 2017 he published a book about the Mafia in Germany together with David Schraven from the CORRECTIV research center and Wigbert Loer from Stern .
