Maik Pohland (* 12. March 1963 in Cottbus ) is a former German football player in the defense . He played for BSG Energie Cottbus in the GDR league .

Career

Pohland played in his youth from 1972 to 1982 in the youth departments of BSG Energie Cottbus. He made his debut in the first team in the 1982/83 season when he was used on September 12, 1982 in the second-rate GDR league in a 1-1 draw against BSG Chemie Premnitz . This season he received one more assignment. In 1983/84 Pohland was able to increase his playing time to 18 games, in 1984/85 he even missed only one of 34 games. He also scored his first league goal this season. Also in the following season Pohland was part of the permanent staff and had a share in the promotion to the league. There he completed all 26 games in 1986/87 . He made his debut on August 16, 1986 when he was in the starting line-up in the 3-1 defeat against FC Karl-Marx-Stadt . His first and only goal in the league was on September 27, 1986 (6th matchday) when he scored the equalizer in the 55th minute in the 1-1 draw against 1. FC Union Berlin . In the following seasons he was also part of the team and only missed a few games. After the turnaround, Pohland continued to play for what is now FC Energie Cottbus. In the third-class Oberliga Nordost he was one of the established forces until 1994. In the 1994/95 season he was only used seven times, but still completed many games for the reserve team. After the season, Pohland moved to SV Werben 1892 for three years, where he ended his active professional career in 1998.

Pohland worked in the meantime at SV Werben as a player- coach, later as head coach from 2002 to 2005 at SV Eiche Branitz. He then coached some of the Energie Cottbus youth teams.
