TSV Chemie Premnitz
The TSV Chemie Premnitz is a German sports club based in Premnitz in Havelland . In the past, the club, which has 1,100 members, achieved national fame through its football and handball department. In particular, handball with several years of membership in the first division and three national cup victories has long been considered outstanding. Furthermore, the bowling section was national top with a large number of championship titles. Other departments of the club are athletics , billiards , volleyball , judo , Nordic walking , table tennis , chess , marching band , swimming , canoe racing , weight training , sailing , gymnastics , gymnastics , water hiking and tennis .
Handball
During 1950, the BSG was renamed twice. First as BSG Chemiefaserwerk, then BSG Kunstseidenwerk and finally renamed BSG Chemie, both indoor and field handball was played first-class. In the 1949/1950 season , the handball department reached the final round of the GDR championship in indoor handball as the Brandenburg team. On January 21, 1950, the team as BSG Chemiefaserwerk Premnitz initially lost against BSG Mechanik Gera 10: 1. Also in the hope round they lost both games against the eventual champions SC Berlin-Weißensee and SV DVP Rostock . Between April and May the BSG Kunstseidenwerk Premnitz played in the final round of the GDR field handball championship. The team came in fifth and last place in the table with one win and three defeats.
In the following season 1950/51 , the club renamed BSG Chemie Premnitz came in the two-track field handball league of the German Sports Committee (DS field handball league) in season A on the eighth and penultimate place in the table, with which the team qualified for the single track Oberliga missed and relegated. In the final round of the indoor handball championship in 1951, BSG Chemie lost their preliminary round match against the eventual winner of the GDR championship SV Deutsche Volkspolizei Halle with 4: 3 as close as possible.
In 1960, BSG Chemie was promoted to the first two-track indoor handball league. But as the last of Season II without a victory or point, they immediately descended again in 1960/61 . In 1962 the handball players moved into their newly built handball hall , the sports hall at Gate II . For the last season of the double-track league in 1963/64 , the Premnitzer returned to the upper house. But with ninth place after two wins and one draw, they clearly missed the fifth place in the table, which is necessary to stay in the league.
The first season 1967/68 in the single-track league again ended with immediate relegation. In the second attempt in 1969/70 the league was for the first time thanks to a win in the relegation game against ZAB Dessau . In the regular round of points, the Premnitz team was last with only two wins. Only one victory then succeeded in the following season 1970/71 and they were relegated again.
The BSG Chemie Premnitz was the first winner of the 1971 introduced FDGB-Pokal , the handball cup of the GDR. In 1972 and 1973 the Premnitz handball players repeated this success. However, the cup took place at that time without the teams of the Oberliga.
In the next league season of Premnitzer in 1976/77 , with five wins, one more victory than added together in the previous three league seasons , but BSG Chemie rose again to return to the 1978/79 season as the elevator team of GDR handball . For the first time the team was not bottom of the table, but missed relegation for the fourth time. The Premnitzer managed this a second time in the 1980/81 season . However, it was followed by the descent in the 1981/82 season, the absolute low. Because the chemical handball players ended their last league season without winning points. In the Eternal Table of the single-track GDR Oberliga (from 1964), Premnitzer are in 15th place out of 24 GDR Oberligisten with only 14 wins from seven seasons. With seven relegations in total, they are also record relegations in this league.
After the reunification , the Premnitzer belonged to the GDR clubs that qualified for the 2nd handball league . In the 1991/92 season they played in the North Season, which at that time also included teams like SG Flensburg-Handewitt or GWD Minden . Together with the other East German clubs, the Premnitzer played in the two-part league, at the top of which the western clubs were ranked, six relegated teams, among which the chemistry was ranked third from bottom.
The last major success was the promotion to the third division regional league middle in 2000 . However, the Premnitzer were the last to miss relegation. In the 2007/2008 season the handball men played in the association league.

Soccer
Chemie Premnitz was founded in 1949 as BSG Kunstseidewerk Premnitz. The company sports club played in the Potsdam district class in the 1950s . In 1961 they were promoted to the Potsdam district league, in which the Premnitzer could consistently occupy top places. The result was promotion to the GDR league in 1967 . While BSG Chemie was able to finish the first year of the second division with eighth place, in the second, together with Lichtenberg 47 , they had to make their way back to the third division.
After six years in the district league, the Premnitzer returned to the GDR league in 1975. The immediate relegation followed, but in 1977 they were back in second class in the style of an elevator team . The next two seasons, in which the third and fourth place could be achieved, were the most successful in the club's history. In 1980 there was again relegation to the district league, two years later Chemie Premnitz was again in second place from 1982 to 1984. In 1990 the Havelländer qualified as champions of the Potsdam district league for the newly created Brandenburg Association League , which ended with eighth place. In 1991 Premnitz joined the Brandenburger SC Süd 05 , but split off again shortly afterwards. The consequence was a demotion of chemistry in the district league Westhavelland. In 1995 he was promoted to the regional class west, from 2001 the next step in the regional league north. It was followed by a relegation in 2004 and another rise. In 2016/17 TSV Chemie Premnitz played in the Landesliga Nord. The home of the soccer players is the stadium of the chemical workers.

The bowling section already existed at the time of the BSG and won numerous medals at national championships. At that time, athletes from BSG Chemie Premnitz were able to win 29 GDR championship titles alone. For decades, bowling was dominated in the Potsdam district and partly throughout the whole of the country . Siegfried Sommer became East German champions in men's singles in 1970, 1971, 1978 and 1981. There were also three second and two third places. Lange won the championship in 1975 and Polensky in 1977. I. Haase won the women's individual championship in 1968 and Renate Marquardt in 1977 and 1979.
In the men's couple fight Siegfried Sommer and Viol won the men's title in 1985 while Silvia Sturm and Käte Levin won gold in 1972 and Käte Levin and Renate Marquardt in 1977. In addition to the large number of titles, chemical athletes also achieved a large number of second and third placements in individual and pair battles.
Due to the strength of the Premnitz bowling athletes, it was possible to win the team championships for many years. In the men's category, Premnitz won eight team titles (1970, 1973 to 1976, 1978, 1985, 1990). There were also six runner-up championships and three third places. Between 1980 and 1990, the women's team won the team championship nine times and thus the GDR championship. Only in 1985 and 1986 did SG Dynamo Berlin-Hohenschönhausen and BSG Motor Rostock Premnitz move to second place. There was also a third place in 1966.
