Finals

On April 22, 1951, the two finalists were determined between the four league qualifiers in Weißenfels . The following encounters took place:

BSG Schiffswerft Roßlau (1st season A) - BSG Stahl Süd Magdeburg (2nd B) 8: 7
BSG Stahl West Leipzig (1st B) - BSG Mechanics Gera (2nd A) 7: 8

Endgame

BSG Schiffswerft Roßlau - BSG Mechanik Gera 10: 9 (5: 5)

After the two representatives of league season A prevailed in the preliminary round, they met five weeks later in Leipzig in the championship final. Despite the pouring rain, 12,000 spectators came. At first they saw an attacking team from Gera, who let the ball run safely through their own ranks and could rely on a faultless cover. On the other hand, the BSG shipyard started out unsafe and nervous. Logically, the Thuringians took the lead early on, but then the Roßlauers caught up. They managed to not let the Geraer hurry up until half-time and reached a tie with 5: 5 at the break. After the break Mechanik surprisingly dismantled Gera and had to pay tribute to their own speed game. On the other hand, Roßlau put on an oppressive storm game, which had already been developed with all players from the defense. The 9: 6 goal by Roßlauers Diedering brought the game the decisive turn. From then on, the shipbuilders were always in the lead and could not be pushed off the winning route in the final phase by the 9:10 connection hit.

Endgame

Course of the game:
The Halle team's clear 7-3 victory over the defending champion was surprising but not undeserved. With strong nerves and an iron stamina, the advantages lay with the people of Saalstadt. With the triple goalscorer Köhler and the sure goalkeeper Riffort, Halle had the outstanding players in the final. At half-time, the People's Police led 3-0, after half an hour they were superior with 5-0. Only then did the defending champion manage to get the game under control and scored three goals in a row to make it 3: 5. However, Halle could not be disconcerted. Schewe ran into the gap and scored the 6: 3, the final score of 7: 3 was made by Köhler with a directly converted free throw.

Berliner Zeitung: “ The big surprise of the tournament was the young KWU Weimar team, who beat last year's champions Stahl West Leipzig 5-2 (!). In a fast-paced final, Anker Wismar was only able to resist the Thuringian girls vigorously in the first half, but then was unable to cope with the fluid and fast combination game of the promising seven from KWU Weimar and finally succumbed with 2: 4 goals.
