With the handball GDR Oberliga 1974/75 , the champions of the GDR in indoor handball were determined in that season .

Season course

The game mode has been changed again. After a normal double round (18 game days), the league was split into two. The first five played another double round among themselves for the championship, as did the bottom five teams against relegation. As a result, the sixth has a higher number of points than the two teams placed before. The season started in May 1974 and ended in February 1975. With the takeover of the handball section of SC DHfK Leipzig by SC Leipzig , three of four teams in the relegation round were able to qualify for the new league season this season. This saved the Motor Eisenach team from relegation. The ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt was able to successfully defend its title from last year.

The highest-scoring encounter took place on the tenth match day with the 30:23 victory of ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt over SC Magdeburg. The ASK Vorwärts also achieved the highest victory with their 26:12 home win over Wismut Aue. The top scorer was the national player Axel Kählert from SC DHfK Leipzig with 210 goals.
