Joachim Pietzsch

Joachim Pietzsch (born June 9, 1947 in Wachau ) is a German handball trainer and former handball player .

Career

Pietzsch initially did athletics and also played basketball . When Pietzsch joined the army, he started playing handball. He ran for the ASK forward Frankfurt , with which he won the GDR championship in 1974 and 1975 and the European championship in 1975 . Pietzsch was still part of the squad of the national team of the German Democratic Republic , for which he scored 87 goals in 79 international matches. At the 1974 World Cup he was runner-up.

After his career, Pietzsch became a trainer. Pietzsch worked for the Frankfurt handball club , whose first women's team he was in charge of in the Bundesliga after it was founded in 1994 . He later coached the FHC's second team. He ended this activity in October 2012. Later, Pietzsch took over as coach of the men's team at HSC 2000 Frankfurt (Oder).

Private

Joachim Pietzsch is married to the daughter of the former handball player Werner Aßmann . His two children Nikola and Alexander both played in the handball Bundesliga .
