Endgame

The final of the GDR field handball championship of the 1954/55 season took place on July 17, 1955 in the Karl-Marx-Städter in the Ernst-Thälmann-Stadion in front of 25,000 spectators.

BSG Motor Rostock - SG Dynamo Hall 18:12 (9: 5)

With Motor Rostock and Dynamo Halle, the finalists of the last indoor championship met again. Again the Rostockers were clearly superior to their opponents and dominated the game with their skillful moves for long stretches. The decisive factors were the technically superior attacking game and the clever tactical style of play of the new master. The best player on the field was the Rostock attacker Günter Mundt, who, with his ten goals and tactical overview, was the decisive player. The Halle team was never able to cope with the powerful game of their opponent and for their part got bogged down in hopeless individual actions. ( Berliner Zeitung , July 19, 1955)

Endgame

The final with the two season winners took place on February 20, 1955 in Magdeburg's Hermann-Gieseler-Halle in front of 2,000 spectators.

BSG Motor Rostock - SG Dynamo Hall 14:11 (7: 8)

In a good-class and exciting game, the defending champion Motor Rostock initially struggled to get the game under control, because SG Dynamo managed to set the tone for one half with dangerous attacks and safe teamwork and led to the break with 8: 7 goals. In the second half of the game, the Rostock team seized the action with increased speed and determined actions and took the lead for the first time after eight minutes. The previously insecure goalkeeper Hans Beier increased himself to great saves and kept the Halle attack line in check. On the other hand, BSG Motor had a sure executor in Klaus Matz, who with his five goals in the second half became the decisive player in the final. ( Berliner Zeitung , February 22, 1955)
