Rudi Hirsch

Rudi Hirsch (born November 20, 1931 in Canena ) is a former German handball player .

Life

Hirsch learned the trade of an electromechanic . He started as a handball player at Empor Halle in 1947 and then went to the German People's Police (DVP), which delegated him to SC Dynamo Berlin in February 1956 . After his active sports career, he became a qualified sports teacher and worked as a trainer from 1966 to 1976. He then worked in the technology and development department of the Dynamo sports association . In 1990 he was retired as a major or police officer .

Sports career

With a total of 49 appearances on the large field, he was the record national player of the GDR (and all of Germany) in field handball. He played three of these international matches for the all-German team at the 1959 World Cup. During his active time, he changed handball from the large field to the hall.

Rudi Hirsch played in the joint German team, which was world champion at the field handball world championship (WM) in 1959 , as well as at the indoor handball world championship in 1958 (3rd place) and at the indoor handball world championship in 1961 (4th place). For the men's national handball team of the GDR he played at the field handball world championship (WM) in 1963 , at which he became world champion again with the GDR team , and at the indoor handball world championship in 1964 . He played a total of 92 international matches, in which he scored 257 goals, of which 49 games and 154 goals on the full field (including 3 games and 10 goals for the German team as a whole) as well as 43 games and 103 goals in the hall (including 11/39 for Germany as a whole) ).

In 1963 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
