Handball East Zone Championship 1949

The handball east zone championship in 1949 was held in field handball and led to the determination of the east zone champion for men and women.

Championship mode

The five national champions qualified for the eastern zone championship for both men and women. The Berlin champions did not take part in the east zone championship. The teams met each other in a simple round of points, the team with the highest number of points was chosen as champions.

Field handball men

The following teams qualified for the men:

BSG Buckau-Wolf won all four championship games and achieved the following results:

  • Elektra Frankfurt 16: 4
  • Locomotive Pirna 12: 5
  • Neptune Rostock 11: 6
  • SG Gera-Untermhaus 15: 7 (last final game on June 20, 1949)

Field handball women

The following teams took part in the women's east zone championship:

The women of SG Kleinzschocher-West emerged as champions in 1949 and, like the men's champions, survived the championship round without losing points. They defeated the sports communities
