George Fortune

George Fortune (born December 13, 1931 in Boston , † September 22, 2019 in Berlin ) was an American opera singer ( baritone ).

Career

Fortune studied philosophy and languages ​​in his hometown and at Georgetown University in Washington, DC He received his training as an opera singer with Todd Duncan . Fortune's career in Europe began with the First Prize for Singing at the ARD International Competition in Munich.

He then made his debut at the Vienna State Opera , but then went to intermediate stops in Ulm - where he made his debut as Fluth in Otto Nicolai's Lustige Wives von Windsor - and Augsburg in 1965 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin .
