Final (hall)
SC DHfK Leipzig - BSG locomotive Magdeburg southeast 14:12 (8: 6)
(February 18, 1961)
The BSG Lok Magdeburg Südost competed as a blatant outsider against the defending champion SC DHfK, but delivered an exciting fight. Although the Leipzig team quickly led 3-0, they became too confident afterwards, and after 20 minutes it was surprisingly 5-5. After that, the game developed into a pure fighting game, and Paul Tiedemann ensured a lead in favor of Leipzig with three technically brilliant goals. At halftime, the DHfK was very close with 8: 6. The second half continued dramatically. Despite a five-minute exposure of Kurt Schwenk from Magdeburg, his team again equalized to 9: 9. Twelve minutes before the end of the game, the Magdeburg team were sensationally in the lead with 12:10. When they were forced to act, the DHfK players now fully focused on fighting and caught up gate by gate. Seconds before the final whistle, Paul Tiedemann made the victory for SC DHfK perfect with a 14:12.

Endgame (field)
SC Dynamo Berlin - SC Lok Leipzig 16:12 (8: 5)
The final got off to a lengthy start, with Dynamo captain Rudi Hirsch not making it 1-0 with a penalty throw until the ninth minute. Initially, the secure rows of cover dominated, which had easy play with the risk-free action of the strikers. Only when the concentration in the Leipzig defense decreased for a few minutes, SC Dynamo was able to pull away with 4: 1 until the 15th minute. Bad luck for Leipzig's players, two goals were denied, Zander moved free-standing. Although technically and tactically inferior at this point, the locomotive players took up the fight and were able to shorten it to 5: 7 by the 26th minute and kept the deficit 5: 8 within tolerable limits until half-time whistle. In the second half of the game, Rudi Hirsch swung himself up to be the decisive player in the Berlin ranks. He became a sovereign director, distributing the balls and constantly changing his shooting positions. With its first three goals after the restart, SC Dynamo pulled away with 11: 5. In the further course of the game, both goalkeepers influenced the action. While the dynamo warden Ott, regarded as a supposed weak point, drove the Leipzig striker to despair, his counterpart Weide looked bad when Naumann, Hirsch and Meißner threws. When SC Dynamo scored the 14: 8 ten minutes before the end, the decision had already been made, Kulawig set the end point with his goal to 16:12.
