Endgame

BSG Motor Rostock - BSG Motor Eisenach 25:17

(February 26, 1956)

Outsider Motor Eisenach started the game with consistent man marking, which initially inhibited the Rostock's flow of play. When the defending champion went 4-2 in the front, the Thuringians switched to a four-man bar, but couldn't get the opposing attackers under control. Before the break, Rostock suddenly changed tactics and withdrew. The now running Eisenach fell into the trap, because now the North Germans made their goals with counter attacks. At the break, the defending champion had already thrown out a 15: 7 lead. After the break, the Thuringia fought worthy of recognition, but were not up to the technical-tactical game of the opponent, who quickly increased his goal lead to ten goals. Only when the Eisenach cover stabilized with a goalkeeper change, the Eisenacher BSG was able to reduce the goal difference again, but they could no longer shake the victory of BSG Motor Rostock.

The handball women determined like the men the indoor champion in the indoor handball GDR league, in which only six teams were combined. The championship was only decided on the last day of the match, as after nine rounds defending champions SC Progress Weissenfels and BSG Lok Rangsdorf were tied at the top. In the decisive final game, Rangsdorf won 5: 4 in their own home, the sports hall in Frankfurt (Oder) .

Endgame

SC Dynamo Berlin - BSG Lok Magdeburg Süd-Ost 14:10

(October 21, 1956 in Gera )

The SC Dynamo went into the final as the clear favorite. The Berliners had dominated their season without losing points, while the BSG Lok had to accept two defeats in the point games and were also handicapped by the fact that they had to play significantly more games than the Berliners in the past weeks due to the disordered schedule. From the very beginning a combat-oriented game developed that was sometimes exaggerated by the Magdeburg team. In addition, the game suffered from the poor performance of the Leipzig referee Schuffenhauer, who discriminated against Magdeburg with wrong decisions in the early stages. As a result, they lost the lead they deserved in the first half. Dynamo players initially showed a surprising weakness in throwing. After Magdeburg's Bahra had to leave the field for five minutes because of a gross foul and a penalty throw by his teammate Schulze was not recognized, the Berliners were able to go into the break with a narrow 6: 5 lead. With goals from Diedering and Mannewitz, Dynamo was able to extend the lead to 8: 5 and now played the greater throwing power and better condition. Magdeburg was able to reduce the deficit again in the final minutes, but in the end the team lost with a four-point difference.

Berlin: Groß - Greye, Burau - Herrmann, Köhler, Rudi Kosche - Stolfig, Naumann (1), Diedering (5), Rudi Hirsch (4), Dieter Mannewitz (4)

Magdeburg: Dieter Deicke - Bahra, Richter - Gerhard Stapf (4), Grünwald, Siefert (2) - Graffschack (1), Schulze, Klaus Miesner , Bormann (2), Dittmann (1)

Referee: Schuffenhauer ( Leipzig )

Field handball 1956 (women)

The women's field handball champions 1956 was determined between April and October among 14 teams that were divided into two relays in the women's league. The field of participants was composed as follows:

Season I.
Season II
  • SC Motor Berlin
  • BSG Progress Cottbus
  • BSG Motor Polysius Dessau
  • SG Dynamo Leipzig
  • SC Lok Leipzig
  • BSG Lok Rangsdorf
  • BSG Motor Wismar

The season winners were the defending champions of SC Progress Weissenfels and the women of SC Lok Leipzig, they contested the final of the 1956 championship.

Endgame

SC progress Weissenfels - SC Lok Leipzig 3: 7

(October 21, 1956 in Gera)

In the women's field finals, the Weißenfels players were favored because of their two championships from 1954 and 1955, the Leipzig team was only given outsider opportunities because of their five selection players. Contrary to the prognoses, the Leipzig women took over the initiative from the beginning and bought the opponents the guts with an aggressively adjusted cover. While the Weißenfels combination game did not unfold as a result, the Leipzig women played their good technical ability and their throwing power, so that they ended the first half with a clear 4: 1 lead. In the second half of the game, the Lok players dominated thanks to their better ball handling and a cohesive team performance. Since their opponents acted tired and indecisive, their leadership was never in danger. After an interim 6: 2, the decision had already been made in favor of the SC Lok, especially since the Weißenfelser were dismantling more and more. The surprising 7: 3 final result ultimately corresponded exactly to the course of the game.

Weißenfels: Martina Maudrich - Kühn, Noth - Brandt, Baumert, Dietz - Inge Schanding, Häuber (1), Erika Quarg (2), Müller, Inge Jahn - (Kloß, Lemnitzer)

Leipzig: Müller - Bergner, Gittel - Schreiter, Unger, Baldreich - Schmutzler (1), Pope, Eckert (4), Gerasch (1), Schmidt (1) - (Stephan, Heinze)

Referee: Prehn (Löcknitz)
