Handball GDR Oberliga (men) 1966/67
With the men's handball GDR championship 1966/67 , the title holders in indoor and field handball in the GDR were determined. Last year's runner-up was SC Dynamo Berlin . After the GDR handball association decided not to hold field handball championships in the future, SC Magdeburg became the last GDR field handball champions.
Indoor championship
For a long time, the SC DHfK Leipzig had topped the table of the handball league, but then he lost the last two point games, including the one against the immediate pursuer SC Dynamo Berlin . This cleared the way for the field master of the previous season. In the preliminary game against SC DHfK (14:12), the following players met for SC Dynamo:
- Rainer Zimmermann (4), Horst Jankhöfer (4), Werner Senger (3), Klaus Petzold (2), Meißner
Behind the two front runners from Berlin and Leipzig there was a large gap to the midfield of nine points. Led by the third SC Empor Rostock , the midfield was only five points apart in front of the relegation places. The BSG Lokomotive Dresden just missed the saving eighth place with one point and four goals. The second relegated was newcomer SG Dynamo Halle , who lost all 18 point games without a chance.

Field championship 1967
Even before the 1967 field season kicked off, it was known that it would be the last championship in field handball. On February 23, 1967, the GDR handball association decided that from 1968 all GDR-wide field handball leagues will be dissolved. With a clear lead of six points, SC Magdeburg fought for the last championship on the field. The midfield of the league ranged from second in the table SC DHfK Leipzig to eighth BSG Stahl Krauschwitz and was ten points apart. As in the hall, the SG Dynamo Halle was beaten far on the field with only two wins.
