Handball GDR Oberliga (men) 1965/66
The men's handball GDR championship 1965/66 served to determine the GDR champions in indoor and field handball. Champion in the hall was the defending champion SC DHfK Leipzig , the new field handball champion was last year's finalist SC Dynamo Berlin .
Indoor championship
With just one defeat and a lead of eight points, the SC DHfK Leipzig defended its previous year's title. In its last point game (24:20 against ASK Vorwärts Berlin ), SC DHfK competed with the following team:
- Bodo Fischer - Peter Randt , Klaus Langhoff , Paul Tiedemann , Hannes Eichhorn, Erwin Kaldarasch , Lothar Fährmann, Schmitt, Wöhler, Otto Hölke.
With the BSG locomotive Magdeburg SO , the 1963 master was relegated from the league, accompanied by the newcomer BSG Motor Eisenach . Again, the teams from company sports associations (BSG) had no chance, all four adorn the bottom of the table.

Field championship 1966
The field handball league for the first time consisted of only one season in 1966. The five best teams of the two league seasons of the previous season had qualified, there were no promoters from the handball substructure. The new champions SC Dynamo Berlin won all 18 games and was six points ahead of local rivals ASK Vorwärts Berlin at the end of the season .
In the last game of SC Dynamo (25:15 at Wismut Aue) the following players scored the goals:
- Rainer Zimmermann (8), Böhnisch (7), Werner Senger (6), Rudi Hirsch (3), Horst Jankhöfer (1)
As in the indoor league, the four BSG representatives also landed on the field at the bottom of the table. The BSG locomotive Magdeburg SO had to clear the field in the field league after relegation from the hall. The second relegated team was SG Dynamo Leipzig .
