The men's handball league in the GDR 1985/86 was the top league in indoor handball in the GDR this season . With her, the 36th GDR champion was determined in this sport.

Season course

The league season 1985/86 began on September 14, 1985 and ended on May 29, 1986. The SC Empor Rostock secured the championship title again after 1978 and prevented SC Magdeburg's seventh success in a row .
