Hans Haberhauffe (born February 6, 1933 in Schönebeck ; † February 11, 2015 in Berlin ) was a German handball player and coach as well as a soccer coach . Haberhauffe was used in the right wing position. During his active time he switched handball from the large field to the hall.

Life

Haberhauffe began playing handball in his hometown Schönebeck as early as 1947. From 1952 he played for Motor Fermersleben , in 1956 he switched to ASK Vorwärts Berlin .

Hans Haberhauffe played in the joint German team, which was world champion at the field handball world championship (WM) in 1959 , and at the indoor handball world championship in 1961 (4th place). For the men's national handball team of the GDR he played at the field handball world championship (WM) in 1963 , where he was again world champion with the GDR team . He played a total of 79 international matches and scored 211 goals.

Haberhauffe ended his active sports career in 1966 and became a handball trainer after studying at DHfK Leipzig . Together with Günter Böttger , he achieved the GDR championship title in 1974 with his ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt, who moved from Berlin to Frankfurt (Oder) in 1969 . He then became the head coach of the handball sports team. In August 1976, Hans Haberhauffe changed from the head coach of the handball players of the ASK to the head coach of the football players of the FC Vorwärts Frankfurt team . After the league relegation of FC Vorwärts Frankfurt in 1978, he moved to the committee of ASV Vorwärts , where he worked as a supervisor for ASK Rostock. He left the National People's Army (NVA) in 1981 and was the GDR association coach for handball juniors until 1987. As managing director of the district handball committee (BFA) Berlin (East) from 1989 he organized the merger with the Handball Association Berlin (West) in 1990 and became its new managing director.

Haberhauffe was a trained machinist and qualified sports teacher. At the Army Sports Association (ASV), he was last active in the rank of lieutenant colonel . Haberhauffe died five days after his 82nd birthday in Berlin.
