The Main Bridge Dettelbach is a 359 m long bridge on Autobahn 3 .

The structure is located between the Biebelried motorway junction and the Kitzingen motorway junction. It spans the Main north of Kitzingen with five fields as well as the state road 2270 from Dettelbach to Kitzingen to the right of the Main . The highway has a 5000 m radius in the course of the bridge. In the elevation there is a rounded tub with a cross slope of 1.6%. The first overpass structure was built between 1961 and 1963. As part of the six-lane expansion of the motorway, a new bridge was built between 2000 and 2003.

Substructures

The pairs of columns had at a center distance of 17.5 m has a rectangular hollow cross section having 6.4 m width and were in reinforced concrete have been manufactured.

Superstructures

The superstructure of the prestressed concrete bridge consisted per 14.8 m wide dual-shoulder from two parallel plate beams , prestressed in longitudinal and transverse directions. The construction height was 2.4 m above the abutments, increased linearly to 5.2 m above the river piers and remained unchanged in the long field above the Main. A floor slab was provided over the river and the neighboring foreland piers. The thickness of the vertical webs was 42 cm, in the area of the river piers 52 cm.

The span for the 7-span bridge was 33.0 m - 43.0 m - 57.0 m - 104.0 m - 51.5 m - 40.0 m - 30.50 m.

Bridge from 2003

Due to the formation of cracks and major deformations, the first bridge had to be replaced by a new one prematurely as part of the six-lane expansion of the motorway. The cost was 19 million euros.

Substructures

The river piers and the abutments of the old bridge could be taken over after appropriate renovation and renovation measures despite the wider bridge construction.

Superstructures

The superstructure of the prestressed concrete bridge consists of two single-cell hollow boxes, each 18.45 m wide. The construction height is haunched, with a maximum of 6.2 m above the river pillars and a minimum of 2.6 m at the abutments. The prestressing in the longitudinal direction consists of a mixed construction with internal and external tendons in the transverse direction, a prestressing without bond was built into the deck slab. The bars are inclined. The spans for the 5-span bridge are 49.9 m - 83.0 m - 104.0 m - 77.0 m - 44.9 m

Manufacturing

The northern superstructure was built above the existing bridge in cantilever construction , with falsework in the peripheral areas . After the traffic had been transferred to this, the two old superstructures were demolished and the new southern superstructure built. The traffic was then diverted to this and the first superstructure moved to its final position.
