The Main Bridge Oberhaid is a structure on the Federal Motorway 70 near Oberhaid in Upper Franconia . At kilometer 60 on the motorway, it spans the Main at kilometer 385.25 and foreland areas. The bridge is located between the Viereth-Trunstadt and Bamberg -Hafen junctions.

The Main Bridge was built as part of the construction of the motorway from Schweinfurt to Bamberg. It cost 20.8 million marks. Construction began in August 1988, and the bridge was opened to traffic in October 1991. The girder bridge is curved in plan with a radius of 3000 m and has a superstructure for each lane, which is designed for two lanes and one hard shoulder.

construction

Bridge soffit of the main opening

The structural system of the prestressed concrete bridge consists in the longitudinal direction of a symmetrical continuous beam with 17 openings and spans of 31.6 m for the two end spans, 83.0 m for the main opening above the Main, 36.0 m for the two spans next to the main opening and 32 .5 m for the remaining twelve fields. In the transverse direction, the two superstructures have a box-girder cross-section with a floor slab 5.5 m wide and a constant construction height of 2.5 m in the standard openings. Only above the two river pillars on the Main does the construction height increase in the shape of a cove for static reasons to a maximum height of 4.0 m, over a length of 17.1 m.

The bridge substructure consists of reinforced concrete round columns with a diameter of 1.5 m and a massive cross-section in the foreland . The river pillars are designed as disks and can be walked on for maintenance purposes.

Construction work

Subsequently added coves of the main opening

The superstructures of the bridge were built using the incremental launching method with a constant height, for which the span of the central opening was reduced to 41 m with auxiliary supports. A special suggestion from the construction company was used to create the haunches over the river piers. The construction method, which is very seldom used in Germany, consisted of a subsequent addition of the cove under the floor slab of the hollow box in order to achieve the required construction height for the final state. The supplementary concrete was poured in via filling openings in the floor slab, which were arranged in the longitudinal direction at intervals of 0.6 m. In order to achieve the required bond between old and new concrete , model tests had to be carried out beforehand.
