The American football department of TSV Schott Mainz , the Mainz Golden Eagles (MGE), plays with several teams in different age and performance classes. The home games take place on the district sports facility in Mainz-Mombach . For the Perfect Season 2015, both the football men and women were honored by TSV Schott Mainz as Teams of the Year 2015 in February 2016.

Men's team

The Seniors of the Eagles are currently playing in the regional league. After the promotion following the 2015 season, the men could only achieve two victories in 2016 and ended the season bottom of the table. However, they were able to stay in the middle of the regional league, as the American Football Association of Baden-Württemberg will be operating its own regional league from 2017 and two teams were no longer in the previous middle of the regional league. For this reason, it was decided that the two teams that were relegated last season (TSV Schott Mainz Golden Eagles and Frankfurt Pirates) will again be able to compete in the Regionalliga in the coming 2017 season.

Ladies team

The Mainz Golden Eagles have had women's football since 2009. They became champions of the 2nd Bundesliga in 2009, 2011 and 2015 . In 2016 and 2017, the team was German runner-up in the women's Bundesliga (American Football) . The women's team regularly provides players for the German national team.

Youth teams

In the junior area, the Eagles are positioned with a U17 and U19 in tackle and a U15 in flag football . The U19s also play in the top youth class, the GFLJ ( German Football League Juniors ) and, although they did not make it into the play-offs in 2016, they ended the season with a remarkable 3rd place. In 2013, the U16 team played the “ Perfect Season ” for the first time as the Mainz youth team : They won all season games (6-0-0) with a score of 152: 56.
