The Maironis University High School Kaunas (lit. Kauno Maironio universitetinė gimnazija ) is a state high school in Kaunas , the second largest city in Lithuania . It is supervised by the Kaunas' universities.

history

After the Kovno Governorate was founded, the College was moved from Kražiai to Kaunas (the center of the governorate) in 1843 . It had the status of a government high school. In 1909 the third floor of the school was built. The grammar school was closed during the First World War . The office was in Smolensk .

In 1920 the grammar school was a seat of the Lithuanian Parliament ( Steigiamasis Seimas ). From 1920 to 1922 the "high courses" (lit. Aukštieji kursai ) were organized in the building. This resulted in a number of universities in what was then the capital Kaunas.

In September 1927 the “Aušros” girls' high school was housed in the building. There were 14 classes with 573 students. 8 classes had the educational focus Humanities and 6 classes commerce . We were taught bookkeeping , typing and other economic matters. The humanitarian classes had an improved linguistic, literary and historical education.

In 1940 part of the grammar school was moved to the first Kaunas middle school. The old grammar school became the second secondary school in Kaunas, and the boys (from the first secondary school in Kaunas) also studied here. In 1989 she got Maironi's name. In 2010 the partnership with the universities of Kaunas began: Kauno medicinos universitetas , Lietuvos veterinarijos akademija , Kauno technologijos universitetas , Lietuvos kūno kultūros akademija , Lietuvos žemės ūkio universitetas and Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas .
