Maison de l'Astronome
The Maison de l'Astronome (German House of Astronomer ) is a residential building in Bazas , a French town in the Gironde department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , which was built in 1530. The building at Place de la Cathédrale No. 23 has been protected as a Monument historique since 1990 .
The three-storey house with an arcade was called the Astronomer's House because the facade is decorated with stars, the sun, the moon and an astronomer . The character of the house corresponds more to the architecture in northern France, which is why it was also referred to as a Dutch house. The two arcades are supported by three buttresses . The vaulted cellar has been preserved in its original state.
The interior was rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries.
