Maison forte

The Maison forte de la ferme du Colombier ( fortified house of the Colombier farm ) in Aincourt , a French commune in the Val-d'Oise department in the Île-de-France region , was built in the 12th century. The building has been on the list of architectural monuments in France as Monument historique since 2003 .

history

The fortified building was in the 12./13. Erected in the 18th century, it served to defend the borders of Normandy . There are only remnants of the associated farm and the pigeon tower from which it is named (French: Colombier) has completely disappeared.

The building has two external staircases, one on the south and one on the north side. There are only a few small window openings. On the upper floor there is a room with remains of a wall painting from the 15th century depicting two fighting knights .
