Tayfun Hut (born July 19, 1967 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish football player and coach. Despite only two and a half years working for Galatasaray Istanbul , he is associated with this club.

Player career

society

Hut began with club football in the youth department of the Istanbul club Sarıyer SK and was accepted into the professional squad of the then first division team here in 1986. A short time later he came to regular employments and played here for the next two seasons. Since he had significantly fewer stakes in his second season than in the previous season, he left the club in the summer of 1988 and moved to the then second division club Muğlaspor . Here he immediately established himself as a regular player and in his two-year period advanced to one of the league's shooting stars, which made first division clubs aware of him.

In the summer of 1990, long-time left full-back Semih Yuvakuran moved to arch-rival Fenerbahçe Istanbul at the traditional Istanbul club Galatasaray Istanbul . In the search for a replacement for Yuvakuran, those responsible became aware of Hut, who in his career so far had been active in defensive midfield as well as the position of left full-back and signed him for the 1990/91 season . In his first season for Galatasaray he failed to make the leap into the regular formation, but Hut completed 18 league games and made it to the national team. At the end of the season, Hut and his team were behind arch-rivals Beşiktaş Istanbul, Turkish runner-up and Turkish cup winner . Hut started the second season with his team by winning the TSYD Cup . In addition, they took part in the European Cup Winners' Cup of the 1991/92 season and reached the quarter-finals here. In the quarter-finals, they failed to later cup winners Werder Bremen . While Hut was praised by the trade press this European Cup season, he was heavily criticized for his performance in the first leg encounter against Werder Bremen. In the opinion of the trade press, Galatasaray undeservedly lost this game with 1: 2, with Hut being blamed for both goals. In the league, Galatasaray was far behind Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe Istanbul in 3rd place in the table. After the last three disappointing years, Galatasaray hired German coach Karl-Heinz Feldkamp for the 1992/93 season . Feldkamp suspended several seasoned players and formed a new team with the remaining players and many young players. Hut was one of the players who stayed in the squad. With Feldkamp, the team started the season by defending their title in the TSYD Cup . Although Hut remained in the team, he was only used a few times until the first half of the season by Feldkamp and was mostly on the bench.

After Hut the first half of the 1992/93 season rather sat on the bench, he was loaned to the league rivals Aydınspor for the rest of the season . At his new club he played almost all of the first half of the season, but missed relegation with his club.

For the 1993/94 season he returned to Galatasaray and was given up to city rivals MKE Ankaragücü . With this club he played in 17 first division games in his first season. For the second season he was loaned to the second division club Sakaryaspor . After a season for Sakaryaspor, he was given to this club along with the transfer fee. After the promotion to the 1st Lig failed here in the second season , Hut left this club.

For the season 1996/97 he moved within the league to Karabükspor . At this club he made it into the regular formation straight away and ensured with his performances that his club became second division champions and thus rose directly to the first division. Promoted to the first division, he stayed with this club for two seasons and was one of the leading players due to his experience. After relegation failed in the summer of 1999, Hut left Karabükspor and moved to the second division club Kartalspor . Here he played for two seasons and then ended his active football career.

National team

As part of a European Championship 1992 qualifier against the Polish national team , Hut was nominated for the Turkish national team by the then national coach Sepp Piontek . In this game on April 17, 1991, he played his first and only international match.

Coaching career

After the end of his career, Hut was in charge of what was then the second club Galatasaray, Istanbul's Beylerbeyi SK, from 2005 to 2007 . He has been working at Galatasaray as a youth coach since 2010 and has been in charge of the reserve team since summer 2011.
