Corncob
The corn cob is a part of the corn cob . The corn kernels are arranged on it in rows that completely cover them. From a plant physiological point of view, it is to be seen as the thickened main axis of the ear of the corn cob. Their appearance resembles that of the spindle of a loom, which explains their name. The spindle makes up about 10 percent of the dry matter of the maize plant. It is fed as a component of the Corn Cob Mix (CCM) and corn silage .
The dried corn cobs are suitable for grilling and are offered as a sustainable barbecue charcoal substitute.
Corncob granules are used to absorb liquids, slide grinding and polishing on materials or as litter in poultry fattening.
