Makaa-njem languages
The Makaa-Njem languages are a language group within Guthrie Zone A of the Bantu languages .
It is classified as Zone A80 and contains thirteen individual languages spoken by a total of around 335,000 people in Cameroon , Equatorial Guinea , Gabon , the Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic .
The individual languages are:
- Bekwil , around 12,000 speakers in the Republic of the Congo, Cameroon and Gabon
- Bomwali , around 39,300 speakers in the Republic of the Congo and Cameroon
- Byep , approx. 9500 speakers in Cameroon
- Gyele , around 42,800 speakers in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea
- Kol , around 12,000 speakers in Cameroon
- Koonzime , around 30,000 speakers in Cameroon
- Kwasio , around 17,500 speakers in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea
- Makaa , around 80,000 speakers in Cameroon
- Mpiemo , about 29,000 speakers in the Central African Republic, Cameroon and the Republic of the Congo
- Mpongmpong , around 45,000 speakers in Cameroon
- Njyem , about 7000 speakers in Cameroon and the Republic of the Congo
- So , around 9,000 speakers in Cameroon
- Ukhwejo , approx. 2000 speakers in the Central African Republic
