Mpongmpong (also Bombo, Mbombo, Mpompo, Mpopo and Pongpong) is a Bantu language and is spoken by around 45,000 people in Cameroon (1991 census).

It is common in the Kadey and Boumba-et-Ngoko districts of Est Province .

classification

Mpongmpong is a northwest Bantu language and belongs to the Makaa-Njem group , which is classified as the Guthrie Zone A80.

It has the dialects Mbobyeng (also Pobyeng), Menzime (also Medzime, Mezime and Mendzime), Bageto (also Baagato and Bangantu), Kunabembe (also Konabembe, Nkumabem, Kunabeeb and Konabem) and Mpomam (also Boman and Mboman)
