Maken-Ki ( Japanese マ ケ ン 姫 っ! , Maken-ki! ) Is a manga series by Hiromitsu Takeda that has been published in Japan since 2007. The work belongs to the genres of comedy and romance and has been adapted as an anime television series , among other things .

Takeru Ōyama ( 大 山 タ ケ ル ) comes to a high school that used to be an all-girls school and hopes to have lots of pretty girls around. But here he first meets Haruko Amaya ( 天 谷 春 恋 ), a friend from before. The self-confident Inaho Kushiya ( 櫛 八 イ ナ ホ ) declares that Takeru is her fiancé, but that Takeru cannot remember any promise. The popular Kodama Himegami ( 姫 神 コ ダ マ ), on the other hand, is hostile to Takeru and other boys, especially when they are chasing after other girls. In addition, Takeru soon learns that it is a school for people with magical abilities who practice these objects called "Maken". There are also duels in the school in which the magical powers are measured. But Takeru himself has no such skills and no Maken either. On the advice of his childhood friend, Takeru joins the Madō Kenkei Kikō ( 魔 導 検 警 機構 ), Maken-Ki for short , called arbitration board .

The manga was published in June 2007 in individual chapters in the manga magazine Dragon Age Pure . After the magazine was discontinued in February 2009, the manga has appeared in Monthly Dragon Age magazine since May 2009 . The Fujimi Shobo publishing house has published the series in 23 anthologies so far, each of which has sold over 45,000 times.
The series has been published in German since February 2013 with 18 volumes so far as Maken-Ki at Panini Manga . Kadokawa has licensed the series for Taiwan.
Of 9 March 2011 (issue 4/2011) to 9 March 2012 (issue 4/2012) appeared in the Monthly Dragon Age a parody spin-off called Maken-ki !: Inaho to Yukai na Nakamatachi ( イナホとまけんきっ!ゆ か い な 仲 間 た ち ) in Yonkoma format. This was drawn by Yū Tsurusaki. The chapters have been summarized in an anthology that was published on November 6, 2011.
Anime
Studio AIC produced a twelve-part anime adaptation of the manga in 2011 under the direction of Kōichi Ōhata , from episode 6 assisted by Harume Kosaka . The series concept comes from Yōsuke Kuroda, the character design by Nobuteru Yūki and the artistic direction was with Kyō Inoue.
The series was broadcast for the first time from October 5 to December 21, 2011 after midnight (and thus on the previous television day ) on TV Saitama . With a delay of a few days, the broadcasters AT-X , Chiba TV , Gifu Hōsō , Mie TV , Sun TV , Tokyo MX , TV Kanagawa , TV Setouchi and TVQ Kyūshū took place . An English subtitled version prepared for FUNimation Entertainment was offered on several streaming platforms .
A second season of 10 episodes called Maken-ki! Tsū ( マ ケ ン 姫 っ! 通 ), where Tsū is the same as English two in Japanese , was first broadcast from January 16 to March 20, 2014 after midnight on Tokyo MX and TV Kanagawa, and also with a delay on Sun TV, TVQ Kyūshū, AT -X, Chiba TV, TV Saitama, Gifu Hōsō, Mie TV and BS11 . Production moved to Studio Xebec , with Hiraku Kaneko directing and Akio Takami character design.

The music for the series is by Cher Watanabe . The opening title is Fly Away by Misuzu Togashi. For the credits the song became Baby! infant! in different versions, sung by Shitaya Noriko, Nomizu Iori, Yahagi Sayuri, Togashi Misuzu, Gōda Aya, Furuya Shizuka, Tanaka Rie, Akesaka Satomi, Ise Mariya, Zōgō Saeko, Misato, Satō Rina, Hidaka Rina, Mina and Harada Hitomi.
