Disney Digital Network (formerly Maker Studios, Inc. ) is one of the largest production networks for YouTube videos.

The company was founded in 2009 by Ben Donovan, Danny Zappin, Scott Katz, Lisa Donovan, Shay Carl Butler, Philip DeFranco , Kassem Gharaibeh and Derek S. Jones. It is based in Culver City , California.

Maker Studios' main network Maker now includes more than 5000 YouTube channels, which together generate over 1 billion views and 7 million subscribers per month (as of May 2016).

Maker Studios' most popular production to date is Epic Rap Battles of History, with an average of 30 million views per episode. Until February 2017, the most subscribed YouTube channel PewDiePie (Felix Kjellberg) was part of the network. Maker Studios also produced episodes of the web show Equals Three and the fictional band Your Favorite Martian , both by Ray William Johnson , which are among the most watched on YouTube. The German web video producer Simon Unge has also been part of the network since summer 2015 . Another branch in the German city of Cologne is planned. Several sub-networks belong to the Maker Group:

  • Polaris (formerly called "The Game Station") - positioned as a network for larger channels in the gaming sector.
  • Revelmode multi-channel network from PewDiePie together with, among others: CutiePieMarzia , Markiplier , Jacksepticeye

In March 2014, Maker Studios Inc. was acquired by The Walt Disney Company for $ 500 million . The purchase price can rise by a further 450 million to up to 950 million dollars due to success bonuses.

In February 2017, the number of network members was reduced from 60,000 to 1,000. On May 2nd, 2017 Maker Studios was merged with the newly founded "Disney Digital Network".
