Markiplier (born June 28, 1989 in Oahu , Hawaii , real name Mark Edward Fischbach ) is an American web video producer . Fischbach specializes in Let's Plays , mostly action and horror games .

It is now one of the top 100 most subscribed channels in the world. Markipler's videos have been viewed over twelve billion times.

Life

Fischbach was born on a military base in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father, German, served in the military and his mother is of Korean descent. After a while, he and his family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. Fischbach originally wanted to study biomedical engineering at the University of Cincinnati , but then decided not to do so in order to pursue his YouTube career. He has a brother, Thomas Jason Fischbach, who is one of the writers of the internet comic Twokinds . Fischbach now lives in Los Angeles , California .

After a visit to Korea, Fischbach learned more about his Korean ancestry: his grandfather was born in what is now North Korea and grew up there. He fled to Seoul before the outbreak of the Korean War and had seven daughters. One of his cousins, Hyung-bae, is an actor in Korea.

Internet career

Fischbach joined YouTube on May 26, 2012 with a channel under the username Markiplier as a combination of his first name and multiplier (multiplier). Fischbach's first video game series was a playthrough of the video game Amnesia: The Dark Descent . After a few other games, including Penumbra and Dead Space , YouTube blocked Fischbach's AdSense account. He then filed an objection on YouTube, but lost. Because of this he creates a new channel called MarkiplierGAME .

Since then he has teamed up with other YouTubers , including Jacksepticeye , CrankGameplays , LordMinion777 , Muyskerm , PewDiePie , Matthias , GameGrumps , Cyndago , Yamimash , Jacksfilms , CaptainSparklez , Egoraptor and LixianTV . He also had roles in TomSka's asdfmovie series, Smosh: The Movie, and Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything . He also plays many different games on his channel, such as the Five Nights at Freddy’s series , Garry's Mod , Happy Wheels , Surgeon Simulator 2013 , Minecraft and many more.

He headed with others, among other events such as the 2015 South By Southwest (SXSW) Gaming Awards with " The Legend of Korra " -Synchronsprecherin Janet Varney . He joined the Red Giant Entertainment network in November 2014.

Fischbach regularly organizes donation livestreams. a. to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital or the Best Friends Animal Society, which takes care of abandoned animals.

In late 2015, Fischbach announced in a video that it would keep away from alcohol. He made this decision after a minor heart attack that triggered a transient ischemic attack that caused him to be hospitalized. His doctors told him to stop drinking alcohol. This decision stopped production of a popular series, Drunk Minecraft .

On November 13, 2019, Fischbach founded the Youtube channel Unus Annus together with Ethan Nestor ( CrankGameplays ) , on which they upload a video every day for a year and delete the channel and all videos on it after 365 days.

Collaboration with Cyndago

In 2015, Fischbach lived with YouTubers Daniel Kyre and Ryan Magee, the creators of the Cyndago channel . The channel was founded in South Carolina in 2012 . Matt Watson of Maker Studios joined Cyndago after they moved to Los Angeles. They were known for the unexpected endings of their videos and their black humor . After Kyre's attempted suicide on September 16, 2015 and the subsequent death two days later, the remaining members dissolved Cyndago. At that time Cyndago had created 40 skits and 14 songs in collaboration with Fischbach. Watson and Magee then decided to work on Watson's own channel. You continue to work with Fischbach and can often be seen in his videos.
