Malcolm death

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Malcolm Tod , in German-speaking countries Malcolm Todd (born March 10, 1897 in Winshill near Burton-upon-Trent , † July 1, 1968 in Pitlochry , Scotland ) was a British actor with a moderate career in domestic and continental silent film.

Live and act

Very little is known about the life of Malcolm Tod. Before the son of a brewer started acting, he was drafted and served on the French front during World War I. On September 6, 1917, when he was just as 2nd Lieutnt. served in the First Black Watch Regiment, Tod married Margaret Bates, one year older.

After being released into civilian life, Tod switched to acting and initially worked as a small actor (so-called “walk-on-parts” and “crowd work”, i.e. extras in crowd scenes) before he was given larger supporting and finally leading roles. In front of the camera, he was particularly convincing in the roles of smart, slightly snobbish noblemen and gentlemen. In 1924 he also came to Germany and was used sporadically in both local and Austrian silent films. In order to take the mortal sound (for German ears) from his surname, another “d” was added to death.

A trip to Hollywood in 1925 brought no offers. On October 19, 1925, Tod returned to England. He couldn't really get his way in talkies. In January 1931, Malcolm's death remarried; this time the actress Jane Wood. After his last film in 1934, his track is lost.
