Malefice are an English metal band from Reading , Berkshire , currently signed to Metal Blade Records .

history

Malefice was founded in college by Dale Butler, Alex Vuskans, Craig Thomas, and Craig Fenner; they played their first gig at the Rivermead Center in Reading . After several appearances in Reading and London they got a record deal with Hangmans Joke and released their first six-song EP called Relentless there in 2006 .

After Malefice switched to Anticulture Records in spring 2007, they began recording their first studio album Entities , which was released in August 2007. A music video was shot for the song Risen Through the Ashes . In 2007, tours with bands such as DevilDriver and God Forbid followed .

In January 2008, the band had a gig at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth that was recorded and will be released on DVD . In June 2008 Malefice played at the Download Festival in Leicestershire .

In November 2008 it was announced on the band's MySpace page that they had signed a worldwide record deal with Metal Blade Records .

On February 27, 2009 the second studio album Dawn of Reprisal was released.

A previously untitled EP will be released in May. It will be the first time the new drummer James Pearly Cook can be heard.

style

The music of Malefice is influenced by Thrash Metal , Melodic Death Metal , Death Metal and Progressive Metal , so that it is difficult to assign the band to an exact musical style, and the style can best be summarized under the term Extreme Metal .
