Malik Riaz Hussain (born February 8, 1954 in Sialkot ) is a Pakistani businessman, investor and billionaire. He is the founder and chairman of Bahria Town , the largest real estate company in Asia. Riaz is currently the 7th richest in Pakistan with an estimated fortune of over 3000 billion rupees.

Life

Malik Hussain is the son of an entrepreneur. Malik dropped out of school to work for the family business. Malik then found a job as an office worker with the Pakistan Military Services. He also worked as a painter. He then worked in the military. He used his contacts and received an employment contract with the Pakistan Navy in the 1990s . The Navy sold its shares in 2000 to Riaz, who was sued for violating terms and conditions by the Navy. He won the case against the Navy, however. Malik Riaz Hussain massively expanded his company under the name Bahria Town. He was not allowed to name his company Bahria after a ruling by the Pakistani Supreme Court . Riaz's leadership style is considered relatively liberal. Bahria Town operates so-called gated communities in Karachi , Islamabad and Murree . Malik Riaz Hussain's net worth is estimated at $ 800 million.

controversy

Malik Riaz Hussain has been criticized for bribing high-ranking entrepreneurs for his purposes. The anti-corruption agency, NAB, believes that the land for the construction of gated communities was illegally acquired by Bahria Town. Another criticism of Hussain is that he has a good relationship with the military . The military is said to have supported him in building his empire. It is believed that senior officers, bureaucrats and lawyers will be bribed by Hussain. Malik Hussain's son, Ahmed Ali Riaz, was named in the Panama Papers in 2016 .
