The Malpighi Glacier is an 8 km long and up to 1.5 km wide glacier on the Brabant Island in the Palmer Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It flows from Harvey Heights in a south-easterly direction and flows into the Mackenzie Glacier .
The first rough mapping goes back to the Belgica expedition (1897–1899) of the Belgian polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery . Aerial photos by Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. from 1956 to 1957 were used for mapping in 1959. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1960 after the Italian anatomist Marcello Malpighi (1628–1694), a pioneer of histology who succeeded in first demonstrating the existence of blood capillaries .
