Malta Song for Europe 1993 (abbreviation: MSFE 1993 ) was the Maltese preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 , which took place in County Cork ( Ireland ), after Linda Martin with her song Why Me? won the Eurovision Song Contest. The competition was won by William Mangion with the song This Time . The competition was also known as the Festival tal-Kanzunetta Maltija għall-Ewropa 1993 .
principle
A total of 16 entries were selected by an expert jury to take part in the semi-finals, which took place on March 11th and 12th, 1993 in the Mediterranean Conference Center . The songs were performed in Maltese on March 11th and in English on March 12th. Here the jury chose the 8 finalists with 100% of the votes, who entered on March 13th to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest.
All songs were performed in both English and Maltese in the semi-finals and in the final , but the English version of the winning title was chosen to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest. Before 1999, singing in English was only allowed in participating countries that had English as their official language, including Malta.
