The Malteser Germany non-profit GmbH is one of the Malteser Hilfsdienst e. V. founded partial organization of the Malteser in Germany. It bundles the sponsorship for the Malteser facilities in the field of medicine and care and the Malteser Werke non-profit GmbH.
The chairman of the management board is Karl Prince zu Löwenstein . The chairman of the supervisory board is Erich Prinz von Lobkowicz .
Medical & nursing facilities
The "Medicine & Care facilities" include hospitals, a specialist clinic for naturopathic treatment and therapeutic fasting, facilities for the elderly, outpatient care services and facilities and services for hospice work and palliative care . The approximately 5,900 employees care for around 100,000 patients and residents every year. The managing director is Franz Graf von Harnoncourt. Malteser Deutschland gGmbH runs its facilities in regional operating companies in the legal form of gGmbHs , which are responsible for the facilities. Most of the facilities are located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein, but can also be found in other federal states.
The Maltese operate seven hospitals and a specialist clinic for naturopathic treatments with a total of over 2500 beds. In the area of care for the elderly there are over 1,800 places (including day and short-term care and assisted living ) in 22 facilities. The first Maltese hospital, the St. Franziskus Hospital , was opened in Flensburg in 1864 , in the government courtyard there and in the neighboring house of the citizens' association . Nowadays it is located in the Duburg district . In the area of inpatient hospices and palliative wards, there are 43 care places throughout Germany for seriously ill and dying people (partly jointly sponsored with other organizations or affiliated with hospitals). There are also six outpatient care services.
Malteser Werke non-profit GmbH
The Malteser Werke gGmbH is a service sozialkaritativer the Maltese. The core competencies of the Malteser Werke are in the area of migration (including "Maltese Migrants Medicine"), youth and addiction aid and schools. The Malteser Werke are structured on a decentralized basis and employ around 2,144 people at around 93 locations (as of September 2019).
The Malteser Werke were founded at the end of 1989 when the Malteser Agency was commissioned by the Federal Office of Administration to ensure that German repatriates were looked after and cared for in the newly established federal initial reception facility for emigrants in Hamm . In 1990 the Maltese received the order for another facility in Dranse, Brandenburg . From 1991, further facilities were added in Xanten, Hamm, Hemer, Viersen and Willich, in which the Maltesers looked after asylum seekers in the recognition process on behalf of the Ministry of Social Affairs in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Migration
Malteser Werke has been involved in migration since it was founded. They operate initial reception facilities in various federal states and collective accommodation on behalf of the federal states and municipalities.
Youth and social
enterprises are institutions for inpatient youth welfare, youth leisure facilities, outpatient family help and facilities for low-threshold addiction help. Since 2015, Malteser Werke has been looking after unaccompanied minor refugees; Facilities for this were established in the Mainz-Bingen district , in Berlin and Erfurt.
School
Since 2007, the Malteser Werke have been a recognized school sponsor by taking over the St. Bernhard high school in Willich , they are the sponsors of the Liebfrauengymnasium in Büren (Paderborn district) and the Antoniuskolleg in Neunkirchen-Seelscheid (Rhein-Sieg district). Malteser Werke is active nationwide for secondary schools with its School atmosfairisch program . In addition, they are responsible for the extracurricular support at various elementary schools and high schools in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Spiritual educational institution In
2008, Malteser Werke took over responsibility for the former Benedictine monastery Abtei Grüssau in Bad Wimpfen and operate the former monastery as a spiritual educational institution. The district office of the Malteser Aid Service and an inpatient youth welfare facility are also located on the monastery grounds. The Maltese are supported in their concern to further animate this place as a spiritual place, from the diocese of Mainz.
Affiliated institutions
The Spiritual Center is a provider of seminars for voluntary and full-time employees of the Maltese. Its program mainly includes meditations, hiking and cycling tours, days of reflection, creative seminars and church services.
