Erich Prince of Lobkowicz
Erich-Georg (Maria Joseph Gabriel Rupert Balthasar Wenzel) Prince von Lobkowicz (born October 31, 1955 in Munich ) is the third president of the German Association of the Order of Malta , chairman of the general assembly of Malteser Werke eV and chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Malteser gGmbH and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Malteser Foundation.
Life
Erich Prinz von Lobkowicz is the son of Nikolaus von Lobkowicz , who taught as a professor of philosophy at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana from 1960 to 1967 . As a result, Erich Prinz von Lobkowicz lived in South Bend (Indiana) , USA, between 1960 and 1968 . In 1975 he received his Abitur at the Maximiliansgymnasium in Munich , whereupon he studied Sinology , Philosophy and History in Munich and Freiburg . In 1979 he graduated with a Magister Artium. He married Christina Countess von Hohenthal and Bergen in 1982 . In 1983 he received his doctorate with his thesis on common sense and skepticism .
From 2012 to 2014 von Lobkowicz was a member of the University Council of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt .
Lobkowicz has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the German Foundation for Patient Protection for many years .
The Lobkowicz couple have six children, live in Maxlrain Castle in Upper Bavaria and own the Maxlrain Leo Graf von Hohenthal und Bergen GmbH & Co. KG castle brewery there .
Work with the Maltese
Since 1989 Lobkowicz has been Honorary Knight and Devotion Knight of the Sovereign Order of Malta, since 1990 in the Council of the German Association of the Order of Knights he was elected President of the German Association on June 17, 2006.
From 1994 to 2007 he was the diocesan director of the Malteser Aid Service in the diocese of Munich and Freising as well as Bavarian State Representative and from 1999 to 2007 Vice President of this aid organization. Since 2002 he has been chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Malteser gGmbH.
Awards
On September 25, 2007 Lobkowicz received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon from the Bavarian Interior Minister Günther Beckstein . On July 20, 2011, the Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer awarded him the Bavarian Order of Merit .
