Malus Island is an island off the Graham Coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . In Auvert Bay it is 7 km south of Cape Evensen .

Participants of the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill mapped them. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1960 after the French physicist Étienne Louis Malus (1775-1812), who in 1809 discovered the ability of light to polarize , which was later used to improve snow goggles .
