The Malvathu ( Sinhalese මල්වතු ඔය Malvatu Oya ) is a 164 km long river in Sri Lanka . It is the second largest river in the country. The river connects Anuradhapura , the capital of the Northern Central Province , with the coast of Mannar . The northern part of the river is called Aruvi Aru or Aruvi , sometimes the entire river.
