Mommy E. Locke

Mamie E. Locke (born March 19, 1954 in Brandon , Mississippi ) is an American political scientist and politician ( Democratic Party ). She has been a Senator in the Virginia Senate since 2004 , where she represents the 2nd District.

Life

Locke attended Tougaloo College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science in 1976 . She then studied political science at Atlanta University , where she received a Master of Arts degree in 1978 and her Ph.D. made. In 1986 she attended the American University of Cairo .

Locke is Professor of Political Science at Hampton University and has served as Dean of the School of Liberal Arts , a faculty at the university, since 1996 .

Locke's political career began in Hampton , Virginia. From 1996 to 2004 she was a member of the Hampton City Council . During this time, she held the office of Vice Mayor from 1998 to 2000 and that of Mayor from 2000 to 2004. In 2003 she was elected to the Virginia Senate. In 2007 and 2011 she was able to defend her mandate.

In 2001 she received the Martin Luther King Memorial Award from Old Dominion University .
