Mamit is a city in the Indian state of Mizoram . The place was created by amalgamating different villages.

The city is the capital of the Mamit district . Mamit has town status . The city is divided into 5 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census, it had 7,884 inhabitants, of whom 4,074 were men and 3,810 women. Christians make up the majority of the city's population with a share of over 95%. Hindus form a minority of over 2%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 95.7%, well above the national average. 96.9% of the population belong to the Scheduled Tribes .
