The Mamiya ZD is the first integrated digital medium format camera . It was introduced in March 2006 by Mamiya Digital Imaging . It has an image sensor with 22 million pixels and is compatible with the lenses of the classic 645AFD . At the same time, a digital camera back panel with the same sensor appeared to convert existing conventional medium format cameras of the 645AFD and RZ67 Pro IID models for digital photography.

According to Mamiya, the sensor has a size of 48 × 36 mm, which is only a section of the negative format of the Mamiya 645AF with 6 × 4.5 cm. Therefore, when using conventional lenses, only a part (“ crop ”) of the image is used.

The D / A converter works with 14 bits, the RGB color channels are saved with 12 bits per channel. Both the camera and the back have a holder for CompactFlash and SD memory cards. The camera and back can be connected to a PC via a Firewire interface and can be remotely controlled via this.

The ASIC processor ( Application Specific Integrated Circuit ) developed for the camera processes the data in real time , according to the manufacturer .

The camera may have a. via various white balance modes , a series image function with 1.2 images / second and various automatic exposure systems . The exposure times range from 30 s to 1/4000 s; Long exposures are possible with a bulb function. The exposure index can be set from ISO 50 to 400.
