Mammillaria albiflora is a species of the genus Mammillaria in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet albiflora is derived from the Latin words albus for 'white' and -florus for '-blütig'.

description

Mammillaria albiflora grows individually and rarely forms groups. Its somewhat cylindrical shoots , hidden under the dense thorns, reach heights of growth of up to 5 centimeters or more and a diameter of 1 to 2 centimeters. The small warts do not contain any milky sap and the axillae are bare. There is no central spine . The 60 to 80 short white radial spines are interwoven.

The white flowers are tinted light pink. They are up to 3.5 centimeters long and reach a diameter of 2.5 centimeters.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Mammillaria albiflora is common in the Mexican state of Guanajuato .

It was first described as Mammillaria herrerae var. Albiflora in 1931 by Erich Werdermann . Curt Backeberg raised it to the rank of an independent species in 1937. The following species are synonyms : Mammillaria herrerae var. Albiflora Werderm. (1931) and Escobariopsis albiflora (Werderm.) Doweld (2000).

Mammillaria albiflora is in the endangered Red List species the IUCN as " Critically Endangered (CR) ", d. H. critically endangered, classified.
