Mammillaria amajacensis is a species of plant in the genus Mammillaria in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The epithet refers to the occurrence of the species in the valley of the Rio Amajac and the village of Santa Maria Amajac in the Mexican state of Hidalgo.

description

Mammillaria amajacensis usually grows individually with a spherical to short cylindrical body, the height and diameter of which can be between 9 and 10 centimeters. The dark blue-green warts are conical in shape. The axillae are densely woolly. The 2 to 4  central spines are straight, pinkish gray with a blackish tip and up to 1.5 centimeters long. Radial spines are completely absent.

The rose-cream colored flowers have a darker central stripe. The fruits are red. They have brown seeds .

Distribution and systematics

Mammillaria amajacensis is common in the Mexican state of Hidalgo .

It was first described in 1997 by Christian Brachet and Michel Lacoste .
