Mammillaria boelderliana is a species of the genus Mammillaria in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors the German cactus connoisseur from Munich Rudolf Bölderl .
description
Mammillaria boelderliana grows individually with a large, long and massive taproot . The flattened, spherical, blue-green body is 1 to 3 centimeters high and 2.5 to 5.5 centimeters in diameter. The conical warts are arranged far from each other. The axillae are bare. The 4 to 5 spines are all the same size and therefore cannot be differentiated between central and radial spines. They are needle-like, yellowish-brown and 0.4 to 0.7 inches long.
The funnel-shaped flowers are whitish with a pink central stripe. They grow to be 1.8 to 2 inches long and 2 to 2.4 inches in diameter. The pear-shaped fruits are red in color and 0.7 to 1 centimeter long. They contain dark brown to black seeds .
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Mammillaria boelderliana is common in the Mexican state of Zacatecas .
It was first described in 1988 by Michael Wohlschlager (* 1936).
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is called " Data Deficient (DD) ", i. H. with insufficient data.
