Mammillaria cerralboa is a species of the genus Mammillaria in the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Mammillaria cerralboa grows singly, rarely forming groups. The slender cylindrical shoots are up to 20 centimeters high and 3 to 4 centimeters in diameter. The yellowish green warts are conical to cylindrical in shape, firm and without milky sap . The axillae are covered with short bristles. A straight and sometimes hooked, strong yellowish central spine becomes 1 to 2 centimeters long. The more or less than 10 radial spines are yellow, straight and up to 2 centimeters long.

The funnel-shaped flowers are white with pink-brown central stripes and up to 2 centimeters long and large in diameter. The club-shaped fruits are greenish to more or less purple-red. They contain black seeds .

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Mammillaria cerralboa is found in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur on the uninhabited Isla Cerralvo .

The first description was in 1923 as Neomammillaria cerralboa by Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose . Charles Russell Orcutt introduced the species to the genus Mammillaria in 1926 .

Neomammillaria cerralboa Britton & Rose (1923), Mammillaria dioica var. Cerralboa (Britton & Rose) Neutel. (1986) Mammillaria armillata subsp. cerralboa (Britton & Rose) DRHunt (1997) and Bartschella cerralboa (Britton & Rose) Doweld (2000).

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
