Mammillaria microhelia is a species of the genus Mammillaria in the cactus family(Cactaceae). Thespecific epithet microhelia means 'little sun, with little suns'.

description

Mammillaria microhelia usually grows in groups with cylindrical, medium-green shoots of up to 15 centimeters and more height and diameters of 3 to 5 centimeters. The blunt conical warts are keeled and rounded at the tip. They do not contain milk juice . The axillae, which were initially slightly woolly, later bald. The 1 to 8, occasionally up to 8  central spines , which can also be missing, are strong, needle-like, straight or curved, reddish brown to yellowish brown and up to 11 millimeters long. The 30 to 50 radiant radial spines are white to yellowish, straight or slightly bent back and 4 to 6 millimeters long.

The whitish cream-colored to slightly pink to purple flowers are up to 1.5 centimeters long and reach the same diameter. The white, light green, or light pink fruits contain brown seeds .

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Mammillaria microhelia is common in the Mexican state of Querétaro .

It was first described in 1930 by Erich Werdermann .

Mammillaria microhelia was in the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN in 2002 as " Vulnerable (VU) , d". H. endangered, classified. In 2013 the species was named " Endangered (EN) ". H. highly endangered.
