ManKind Project

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ManKind Project ( MKP for short ) is a men's movement organization with the self-determined goal of helping men lead a life of integrity , responsibility and truth . The aim is to promote emotional intelligence and to be part of a community in which mutual respect and respect are just as important as the courage to confess one's own truth and to be authentic. The MKP includes men of all ages, social classes, sexual orientations and world views.

distribution

MKP has established itself in several countries: in Australia , Canada , in Europe in the French and German-speaking areas, in New Zealand , South Africa , in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and in the USA . MKP is only just beginning to develop in Costa Rica , Mexico , the Netherlands , Scandinavia and Israel . Overall, MKP is present in more than 22 countries. In each region the MKP works largely independently, chooses its own leadership and runs training courses that deal with being a man. The German section gives its membership as 303 (2016) - with a strong increase.

initiation

Each member has as a recording condition a so-called " initiation (the New Warrior" English New Warrior Training Adventure, NWTA ) to go through, which purports to be a step towards "healing" and "wholeness". Mankind Project provides “tools” for this purpose, which are supposed to help a man to survive better in everyday life. According to MKP Germany, the NWTA should be a very intensive experience, a "transformative experience" that could bring about a very deep rethink. According to their own information, more than 60,000 men worldwide have already participated in an NWTA, the main ritual of MKP. Religion expert Georg Otto Schmid sees the men's initiations in the context of our society's hunger for adventure. One wants to gain deep personal experiences as free of ideology as possible.

history
